2017 at yök, and what we plan to do now.
2017 has been a challenging year. In between mass tourism, a terrorist attack on the Ramblas and the political turmoil due to the independence movement, we welcomed many interesting guests from all over with whom we could discuss these and many other issues, such as climate change, women’s rights, ethical porn, local food, new sites in Barcelona or natural wines. We consider ourselves lucky to have a job where we get to meet people from all over the world, who are open to sharing their views with us and who are interested in the local culture by being responsible visitors. A big thank you to everyone who chose to stay with us, and to those taking the time to write one of these positive reviews on our Tripadvisor page (Excellence), as well as our Booking.com profile (9,3).
We are also grateful for the new cleaning staff we hired this year, and are looking forward to keep working with them in the new year. This blog, incorporated into our web site this year, has turned out very useful to communicate our thoughts and actions. We are now well into our fourth year with yök and have some exciting plans for 2018:
The number one challenge is to keep up (or maybe even improve!) the ratings by offering more than a good night’s sleep. Next on our to-do-list is the promising collaboration with Casa Bonay in order to launch a set of cultural activities to make both our businesses and lifestyles eco-friendlier whilst bringing people together and learning new things. Last but not least, we will plant more trees in order to off-set this year’s CO2 emissions.
Please don’t hesitate to email us if you have any ideas for us in how we can improve the experiences we offer and at the same time lower our ecological footprint. And don’t hesitate to visit us and Barcelona also during the low season; here is why!
